Mobiler Mission 3 - Show how i use my phone on a day to day basis!

Hi Guys, Ive been set another Samsung Mobiler mission this week and this time it is to show what i do with my phone on a daily basis. I thought about it and come to the conclusion that the easiest way for me to do this would be to use a screen recorder from the Android Market to show me flicking through the apps i use, then below the video i will give a brief description of each app you see in the video! So without further ado, here is the video! (Sorry about the quality, it was the best i could find!)

Order of Apps (As seen in the video)

1. Plume
Plume is probably my most used app out of all that's installed on my phone, it is a fully featured Twitter client that has a beautiful interface, notifications, several themes and other top features! Highly recommended for anyone who uses Twitter.

2. Friendcaster Pro
So another social networking app but a very good one at that! Ive never been a fan of the stock android facebook application and i feel it lacks a lot of features compared to the apps on other platforms. Friendcaster tries to fix that by offering push gmail notifications, a nice interface and other great features!

3. Arseblog
Not really relevant to anyone who doesnt support the mighty Arsenal :P but its an application i find myself using everyday. Arseblog is a great blog that talks about everything Arsenal.

4. Soccer Livescores
Another football application but this time its a score checking app. it hasn't got the best interface but it should be rewarded for its simplicity and it features nearly every game/league you could ever want to find the score for! Also includes push notifications if you require them!
5. ChompSMS
Chomp is a fully featured but lightweight text message replacement app, chomp can be fully customized to look anyway you want it to and features pop up notifications with a quick reply feature!

6. Samsung Browser
As the title suggests, this is the stock browser that comes with phones such as the S2 and the original galaxy S. With flash support, hardware acceleration and support for multiple windows its a great browsing experience. The hardware acceleration makes it incredibly smooth!

7. Gmail
If you have an android phone you have no doubt used Gmail, it provides great access to my emails and provides push notifications and full support for labels and folders etc.

8. SetCPU
I was debating whether to include this one or not but i do end up using it on a daily basis and it gives some very important features that i require so i decided to put it in. I dont suggest trying this unless you really know what your doing with it but in my use i have profiles set up that lower the processor speed when the screen is off which results in much better battery life!

So that's what i tend to use on my phone on a day to day basis, if anyone wants any more information on anything ive listed here then feel free to contact me! If anyone is interested in what i used to record the video it was the ShootMe app that is free to download in the market!

Thanks for reading!

Mobiler Mission 2 - How to download games + My top 5

For the final part of my Mobiler mission i am going to show you how to download a game from the Samsung Game Hub and then i will tell you my top 5 recommended games for android!

This is the opening screen of the Game Hub, Samsung have kindly separated the games into 2 sections - Social Games and Premium Games. Social games tend to be free and are opened via the Game Hub itself.  I decided to download "Forces of War" for my demonstration

On the download screen you will see a description of the game, a few screenshots and the nice big green install button. If the game is free simply hit the green install button, as noted earlier with music and books if you are buying a premium game you will be prompted to input a payment method.

Now the game will install...

Now the game as automatically opened, with this particular game you have to register but this isn't necessary with all games.  With certain social games such as "Forces of War" you will need to open the game hub to access it and you wont have a separate app icon for it. You will see a green play button by any games you have already installed.

My Top Games

So... Your stuck on a train that isn't moving or your in the office with absolutely nothing to do, well thanks to the power of android this isn't no longer an issue! With powerhouse phones such as the Galaxy S2 the games available have greatly improved with near console like performance! So here is my top 5 recommended games that i think will help you get the most out of your smartphone!

1. Angry Birds

If you haven't heard of Angry Birds then you really are missing out, they often say simple is best and in this case it is! Angry Birds is based around a family of birds who are rivals with a family of pigs (Yes keep on reading :P) and the object of the game is to slingshot the birds into the pigs, Angry Birds provides lots of levels that give varying challenges and its assured to keep you slinging them ole birds for hours on end!

Mobiler Mission 2 - How to use the Reader Hub

So in the first part of this mission i showed you how to use the Music Hub and the 7digital app to purchase new content, and then i recommended PlayerPro as my favorite music player. In the next part I am going to show you how to use the Samsung Reader Hub to its full advantages.

This is the first screen that greets you when you open the Reader Hub, the top shelf is for Newspapers, second shelf is for books, and the third is for magazines. I will now show you how to sign up to the Book section that is provided by Kobo.

Click on the top option that says "Sign in or create a new account"

Simply enter your email address in the top box then select a password and input it into both boxes!

Now you have an account with the reader hub you can start searching for books! In this instance i found a free book about food to download.

When you have found the book you were looking for just click on it :)

This is the screen you will see when you have selected your book, simply hit the download book option. Of course if you are buying a book you will be prompted to enter payment details in a similar way to the music hub earlier but its pretty easy to follow.

As you see in the screenshot above, i have a popup on the screen telling me that the book has been added to the reading list!

When you go back to the reader hub books section you will be prompted with your reading list, as you can see the book i just downloaded is now available for reading

As you see this is the first page of the book i just downloaded, now you can simply navigate through the book using a left or right swipe motion. I am viewing the book on a Galaxy S2 and the screen size and super amoled display really give a crisp reading experience!

My List

I mainly use my reader hub for downloading newspapers, as part of the mission i was asked to show my top 5 from the reader hub so i have included a screenshot of the newspapers i have read most recently!

I hope my reader hub guide will enable you to get the most out of this fantastic app, as always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Mobiler Mission 2 - How to purchase new music & my recommended music player

Hi Everyone

After whats been a quiet month or so the mobilers are back with our 2nd mission!  This time we have been asked to talk about our favorite music applications, the readers hub and our highest rated games. Im going to break the 3 into different posts so its easier to navigate!

Some of my co-mobilers may demonstrate the apps via a video but i decided to do it with plain old typing and screenshots :D

1. Purchasing new music

Long gone are the days where you had to go to a record shop to buy the latest album or single of your favorite artists, nowadays thanks to applications such as 7digital and the fantastic Samsung Music Hub you can download your music whether your at home, on a bus or out and about.

I personally find it easier to download single songs on the Music Hub and i use 7digital for albums, (both applications are provided by 7digital so i don't suppose it makes much difference). I will now demonstrate with screenshots how easy it is to buy a song!

This is the main screen when you open the Samsung Music Hub, you simply press in the search box and look for any artist or song that your heart desires. In my instance i search for Evanescence (Great Band :D)

Now you just select the song you were looking for!

The cool thing about this part is that you can listen to a preview of the track before you buy it! Don't want you buying the wrong song now do we :D. You can add the song to your basket and then add other songs or simply check out and pay for the one song.

These are some quick screen shots of the 7digital app, its very similar to the music hub but i tend to use it to download full albums. If anyone does get stuck trying to buy music feel free to send me an email and ill be happy to assist anyone.

2. My Music Player

One of the best features of Android is the power of CHOICE, unlike other operating systems you are not held down to one simple music player, The android market features lots of top quality music players ranging from PowerAmp to the very cool cubed music player. Despite so many good choices i always find myself coming back to the same music player, and this is PlayerPro.

PlayerPro is £2.87 to buy the full version but i assure you its fully worth it, the interface is a breeze (pictured above) and there are several added features over the stock players such as fullscreen, skins and even more important a DSP Manager add on! The DSP add on allows you to fine tune your music experience by providing a very detailed equalizer which ensures you can achieve the perfect sound! (Screenshot below)

And of course all of the music that you purchase on the samsung music hub or the 7digital app can be played and accessed automatically within PlayerPro!

3. My most played songs

Here is a screenshot of my most played music, this does tend to change quite often depending what mood im in but this is my current one, as you can tell i have a very wide taste in music :D

If anyone needs any help with anything ive listed here then don't hesitate to contact me! Please also read my other posts on the readers hub and my favorite games! Ill try make it worth your while :D

IFA 2011
